Formal opening of the Department of Pathology of Pregnancy
On 21 April 2016 in pavilion 1A of the hospital complex on ul. Mączna 4, a formal opening of the Department of Pathology of Pregnancy took place. The Department, together with the outpatient clinic of pregnancy pathology and prenatal courses, is a part of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
The event marked completion of the project called Development of perinatal care in the region of Szczecin – improvement of quality and availability of medical services and prevention, implemented within the programme PL07 Improvement and better adaptation of health care to the demographic and epidemiological trends, funded from the resources of the EEA Financial Mechanism and Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2009–2014.
The completed investment will significantly improve the availability of highly-specialised medical services. The Department of Pathology of Pregnancy has 16 beds in single and double rooms, outpatient clinic of pregnancy pathology, clinics for CTG and US, and prenatal courses.
Health protection and promotion activities as well as promoting education relating to maternity and looking after new-borns are a part of the investment. The following lectures and workshops have been organised so far: “Everybody has their own mum”, “Conscious planning and bringing up” and “Club of the Tiny Ones’ Parents”. The campaigns were carried out in eight communes in the region. The following two preventive programmes were also implemented: vaccination against HPV and examination for women under 35 for congenital diseases of the foetus.
The project also helped to provide the facility with the necessary equipment and to furnish the diagnostic clinics. A fetoscopic set, which allows for detecting some congenital diseases and conducting specialised surgery in the foetus, is a particularly valuable acquisition.
“Let all investments in the region go that efficiently”, said Anna Mieczkowska, member of the Management Board of the region, during the opening ceremony. “The time when a woman is expecting her child is very important for her. In particular, when there are problems with the pregnancy. I think that every patient will feel at home in the new department”.
The total value of the project amounted to 11,307,683.00 PLN, including the following:
- 9,046,147.00 PLN are the resources of the EEA Financial Mechanism Committee and the Norwegian Ministry of Home Affairs;
- 2,261,536.00 PLN were the own contribution
